MACL Celebrates Inauguration of Vistara’s New Route Connecting Maldives and New Delhi

Velana International Airport, 3 October 2023 – Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the operator of Velana International Airport, is delighted to announce the successful inauguration of a new route by Vistara, India’s finest full-service carrier and a joint venture of the Tata group and Singapore Airlines, connecting Maldives and the vibrant city of New Delhi, India.

The inaugural flight on this highly anticipated route touched down at Velana International Airport on 01 October 2023. The arrival of Vistara's aircraft was celebrated with a spectacular water salute.

Distinguished senior officials from both Maldives Airports Company Limited and Vistara, along with dedicated staff from the local travel agency Skyplan, joined hands to commemorate this momentous occasion. The warm welcome extended to the airline exemplifies the spirit of cooperation and excitement that surrounds this new connection between the Maldives and India.

Vistara is a joint venture between the Tata group and Singapore Airlines. On this route, Vistara will operate its state-of-the-art A320neo aircraft, featuring a three-class configuration that promises an exceptional travel experience. This new connection will significantly enhance connectivity between India and the Maldives, facilitating seamless travel for tourists and business travelers alike.

Currently, Vistara operates daily flights between Mumbai and Velana International Airport, and the addition of the Male’–New Delhi route further solidifies their commitment to strengthening ties between these two nations.
