Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the operator of Velana International Airport (VIA), is a key economic contributor to the Maldives and the single biggest stakeholder in the tourism industry. VIA is the gateway between the Maldives and the world, the point of first impression for visitors.
In order to help create a memorable first impression and increase our gateway’s capacity for visitors, MACL is investing over 1 billion US dollars in airport infrastructure projects.
MACL has already started one of the biggest projects in the history of Maldives; the complete rebuild and expansion of VIA. This Mega Project is made up of a significant number of major projects; a new modern VIP Terminal Building - which will give a new meaning to luxury travel experience, a new runway- able to accommodate A380 Aircraft, a world class Seaplane Terminal - the biggest in the world, New Fuel Farm - three times the capacity of the present fuel facility, a New Cargo Terminal, a new Fire Station and finally a New Passenger Terminal Building which will accommodate up to 7.5 million passengers per year.
After the completion of this Mega Project, Velana International Airport would significantly increase its capacity while improving its infrastructure and levels of customer service. These new developments will provide operational efficiency and will give a new meaning to the Maldives Luxury.
For the successful implementation of these mega projects, MACL is committed to recruit local talent to further develop its professional Projects Team. As such MACL is looking for more new talent to join these projects.
MACL has recently announced vacancy’s for a Senior Development Manager, five Development Mangers, two Project Managers and two Project Officers. The new staff will have an opportunity of a lifetime to experience and gain knowledge of the ongoing Airport Development Projects at VIA. They will be joining an existing pool of local talents who have already developed their professional competence in project management and engineering services. As well as joining forces with the bright local minds, these new staff will be guided by experienced airport experts who will further enrich and accelerate their capacity to progress.
MACL is focused on creating a professional high-performance culture with new modern management views and practices. These recruits are part of MACL’s plan to prepare the next generation of managers and senior professionals, vital to both the airport’s progress and to the Maldives economic growth.
