Clarifications on MACL tweets on 18th May 2021
Velana International Airport: May 19, 2021 – We would like to clarify some misunderstandings regarding our tweets on Palestinian solidarity on May 18, 2021.
As a Company, our stance on this matter is unwavering and we stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine at all times. We would like to inform that as an international airport operator our communications adhere to our standard corporate practices.
We would also like to emphasize that our CEO, Mr. Gordon Andrew Stewart is currently away on annual leave and no instructions with respect to the content of the tweet had been communicated by the CEO.
Therefore, we humbly request those individuals to avoid spreading false information pertaining to this incident and to avoid wrongly and unfairly portraying our CEO as the reason for this incident. We strongly oppose such acts which causes confusion and negativity. Our focus is to provide a world class airport and our team is dedicated to deliver a higher level of services which we could be proud of.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience caused. We stand in support with the Palestinian people.
